Local produce reigns supreme at Happy Heart Kona. I painted tables decked out in vibrant, tropical fruit so diners learn the origin of their tasty treat.

Painted Table Tops

The three tables for Happy Heart Kona’s outdoor seating area showcase 12 different tropical fruits. Some are commonly known while others might seem quite foreign, but they all grow in Hawaii!

I designed each table top to be dynamically interesting from all four sides. The fruit are shown with cross sections, leaves, and other bits of information so that viewers might learn something new while dining.

For example, did you know that jaboticaba are cherry sized fruits that grow directly on the bark of a tree? Or that dragon fruit grows on a cactus?
