Herron-Morton Garage

MURAL

Located in an Indianapolis, the homeowners wanted a colorful mural to bring energy to the neighborhood.

Design Process

The premise for this residential mural was to work with the existing garage door colors and add abstract linear shapes that hint at transparency where they overlap.

Firstly, I created a grayscale version of the design showing different squiggles, zig-zags, loops, and lines.

Next, I sent over a few color palette options for the client to choose from. They ranged from muted earth tones to brighter pops of color.

After the client selected palette A, I created a digital color design for their approval.

Mural

I drew out the design onto the doors in pencil and then started painting.

It was important to paint carefully since the mural only partially covered the garage doors.

The door was slightly textured, but still a dream surface to paint on. The mural came together very quickly and the neighbors shared their enthusiasm for the joyous design.
