Mushroom Grove Shirts

Newest Block Print Design for Rescued Shirts

My Rescued Shirt Project is going strong! I combine my printmaking skills and eco-consciousness to make upcycled shirts that turn heads. The design ideas pop into my brain and I convert them into graphic one-color designs that I carve out of linoleum. Then I block print them onto shirts.

Each shirt saves the 713 gallons of water it takes to make one new cotton shirt.

Mushroom Grove is the newest design I printed on shirts I rescued from the waste stream.

Inspired by Nature, Twisted by My Imaginative Mind

This interesting banyan tree is what inspired my Mushroom Grove design. The trunk thickened by banyan shoots reminded me of a mushroom stalk. So I morphed it into a mushroom capped with a tree canopy full of birds. Instead of regular tree roots, I incorporated mangroves replete with a group of fish.

Mangroves sequester 4x as much carbon as trees

Mangroves also reduce flooding and erosion, act as storm barriers, filter pollutants from water, and act as fish nurseries. Plus their shape is super fun with all the arced roots woven together. What’s not to love?!

Putting my Printmaking Degree to Use

My trusty carving tools have served me well over the years. I enjoy the meditative process of carefully carving the linoleum one stroke at a time.

I design the graphic to be eye-catching and mesmerizing. Lots of detail!

Check out a video of the printing process here. The whole process is tedious and I love every part of it. 😊

Shirts Now Available

Check out my online shop for the latest shirt drop. All shirts are completely one of a kind! I restock the store about every 6 months so if you see something that grabs you, snap it up.

There are unisex tee shirts and women’s tank tops. Enjoy!
