Based in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, the Sanctuary of Mana Ke’a puts on an annual Mango Festival to celebrate the sumptuous fruit

Brand Identity

One of the many perks of living in Hawaii is the amazing produce that grows on trees. Out of all the delicious bounty, mango season is always a favorite time of year! The Annual Mango Festival in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii showcases the delicious fruit, local farmer knowledge, and cultivation techniques.

In order to create a cohesive branding suite, I started with a color palette inspired by the mighty mango, itself.

Illustration

While brainstorming ideas, I thought of the peacocks who frolick around Hawaii and their famous feathers. Instead of traditional peacock feathers, I superimposed mangoes in order to create a playfully surreal image inspired by Hawaii.

Apparel

The illustration translated into a vibrant shirt design using sublimation printing on organic cotton shirts and tank tops.

Mural

Building on the peacock + mango concept, I designed a 12’x8’ mural with big ol’ lettering and a patterned background. It is a feast for the eyes!

This freestanding mural gives visitors a beautiful backdrop for taking pictures and making memories.

The continuity of imagery creates a cohesive brand identity for the Mango Festival.
